Easter Chocolate Cake

Step-by-step method

Let’s cook

At a glance

You're making a rich, moist chocolate cake that gets finished with silky chocolate cream and decorated with chocolate eggs. The baking takes about 90 minutes and the cake needs to cool completely (overnight is ideal), but the real time commitment here is the layering and decorating — you'll be slicing the sponge into multiple layers and spreading cream between each one before covering the whole cake and giving it a final chill.

About this recipe

I came up with this recipe using Hera back in early February — just a few days before Pepa's birthday. So I made this chocolate cake and decorated it very lightly with an Easter theme. We ended up eating the Kinder eggs ourselves and decorated the cake as a birthday cake instead.
