Cottage Cheese and Poppy Seed Cake

Step-by-step method

Let’s cook

At a glance

You're making a creamy cottage cheese and poppy seed cake that starts with a buttery dough base. The main work involves whipping together a luxurious filling with multiple cheeses and cream, then letting the cake bake for about 50 minutes before cooling in the oven—though it really shines after chilling for at least six hours.

  1. 1/5

    Dough

Work the ingredients into a smooth dough, then roll it out into a springform cake tin lined on the bottom with baking paper. Press the dough out either with your hands or a small rolling pin, and gently press it up around the sides of the tin to form a rim.

  2. 2/5

    Chilling the dough

Let the dough rest in the fridge while you prepare the filling.

  3. 3/5

    Whipping the filling

Beat the filling ingredients together until smooth. Pour the filling over the prepared dough and place it in the oven, preheated to 170°C.

About this recipe

Recently, my favorite dulce de leche baking blog posted a cake that looked absolutely amazing. Since my kids love both cottage cheese and poppy seeds, there was really nothing to think about – I tried the recipe right away. I made a few small tweaks of my own, as there were some things I wanted to do a bit differently. And the cake turned out wonderful!
