Chocolate-Dipped Marokánky (Hazelnut Florentine Cookies)

Step-by-step method

Let’s cook

At a glance

You're making elegant hazelnut florentine cookies with a caramelized fruit-and-nut center dipped in chocolate. The baking happens quickly (just 10-15 minutes), but the real ease comes from the simple stovetop base—you're basically melting cream, sugar, and butter together, then stirring in whatever nuts and candied fruit you have lying around before spooning onto a tray and letting the oven do the work.

  1. 1/5

    Boil the cream

Bring the whipping cream to a boil together with the sugar, honey and butter.

About this recipe

Marokánky are wonderfully easy to make, and today I'm sharing my family's own recipe – my mum's marokánky. I usually bake these right at the end of my Christmas baking marathon, since I like to toss in whatever leftover nuts and candied fruit I have on hand. Feel free to throw in a few broken bits of other Christmas cookies too.
