Quick Whole Poppy Seed Cake with Chocolate Ganache

Step-by-step method

At a glance

You're making a delightful whole poppy seed cake—no grinding required—topped with silky chocolate ganache. The batter comes together in about 15 minutes by whisking eggs with sugar, folding in dry ingredients and melted butter, then baking for around 40 minutes until a skewer test confirms it's done. The real treat happens at the end when you drizzle that easy homemade ganache over warm cake slices.

About this recipe

Do you love poppy seed desserts? We sure do. But I don't always feel like grinding poppy seeds. So I was really glad this cake, made with whole (unground) poppy seeds, went down a treat with everyone at home. The great thing about poppy seed cakes is that you can bake them any time of year.
