Soak the beans
Soak the beans in water overnight. The next day, drain off the water, rinse the beans, and cover them with fresh water. Cook the beans until tender. Don't add salt yet - season only after cooking.

Fry the base
Heat a little oil in a pot and fry the onion together with diced bacon for about 3 minutes. Then add the carrot, sliced into rounds.

Finish cooking
Fry everything together for 5 minutes. Add the cooked, drained beans and pour in the tomato passata. You can also use two cans of chopped tomatoes instead. Season with salt and pepper, and simmer for a further 5-10 minutes.
