PME Supatube Decorating Tip – Writing No. 1.5
Piping Tips for Cakes and Cupcakes
Piping Tips for Cakes and Cupcakes
Our piping tips, also called nozzles, are from JEM and PME, and all are stainless steel. Choose them by the shape of the opening. The #18 open star, the smaller #13 and the fine-toothed #364 make rosettes, shells and borders. The #12 round and the Supatube Writing No. 1.5 handle writing and dots, while the wider round tips fill choux buns and macarons. Drop Flower #1F and #2D make a flower in a single squeeze, and leaf and petal tips make buttercream roses, leaves and ruffles. The JEM Twist and PME Vintage sets give you several shapes at once. Piping bags are in the neighbouring category.

Frequently asked questions
Which tip should I buy first?
The #18 open star. Swirl from the centre outwards to make a classic rosette that covers a whole cupcake, and use it for shell borders too. Pair it with the #12 round for writing, dots and pearl borders.
What are Savoy tips?
Savoy tips have a 31 mm base and are bigger than standard piping tips. The #2R and small round Savoy tips are for choux shells, meringues, macarons and filling. Put them straight into the bag, without a coupler.
What's the difference between Drop Flower #1F and #2D?
Both make a flower in a single squeeze. The #1F makes large, full flowers, while the #2D is a closed star for compact rosettes. The #2D fits a large coupler, and the #1F goes straight into the bag.
What does Supatube mean?
Supatubes are seamless PME tips, so buttercream and icing don't leak out the side. The range here includes Writing No. 1.5, Supatube 8 mm, Medium Leaf and Curved Petal.
Do the tips fit a coupler?
Tips with an 18 mm base fit a standard coupler, such as #12, #13, #18, #352 and #364. #2D, #104 and #123 have a 25 mm base and need a large coupler. Savoy tips, #1F and the Twist sets go straight into the bag.
Can I put the tips in the dishwasher?
Best not. The manufacturer recommends washing them by hand in warm soapy water.
