Quick answer

Which side goes with meat?

Dumplings or potatoes with a roast, roasted vegetables and potato salad with the grill, rice or steamed vegetables with fish. The recipes note what suits what.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have quick sides?

Sure. Mashed potatoes, rice, couscous, or roasted vegetables come together in half an hour and go with almost anything.

How do I cook rice so it doesn't stick?

Rinse it in cold water until it runs clear, then cook it covered with 1.5 parts water to 1 part rice. Let it rest a few minutes and fluff with a fork.

How much of a side do I need per person?

Roughly 200 g of potatoes, 60-80 g of uncooked rice or pasta, or 3-4 dumplings per serving. With a hearty main, you can go lighter.

How do I liven up plain potatoes?

Try them roasted with herbs and garlic, mashed with spinach, or baked into a cheesy gratin. A small change, a big difference.
