Classic Baked Potato Gratin
·Scrub the potatoes well and boil them in salted water until almost tender. Drain and slice. Cut the frankfurters into rounds.
Grease a large baking dish with a little oil or butter and dust with breadcrumbs. Layer in the potato slices and sausage rounds. If you really can't be bothered layering, just mix the two together and tip them straight into the dish — that works just fine too.
Whisk the eggs with the cream and season with salt, pepper, and mustard. You can stir in the finely grated cheese, or simply sprinkle it over the potatoes instead — whichever you prefer.
Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 20 minutes. The potatoes are done once the egg and cream mixture has set and the cheese on top has turned golden.
