Bread Rolls – Not Just for Breakfast
·Make the dough
Mix all the ingredients together in a stand mixer, by hand, or in a bread maker. Let the dough rise.
Divide into portions
Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface and divide it into as many pieces as you want rolls, depending on the size you're after. For regular-sized rolls you'll get about 10 pieces, or 20 if you go smaller.
Let the balls of dough rise
Shape the dough into balls and press them down gently. Arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover with a kitchen towel and leave to rise for about an hour.
Brush with egg and sprinkle with toppings
Brush the rolls with egg beaten together with a little water, and sprinkle with sesame seeds if you like. Bake in an oven preheated to 185°C for about 15 minutes, until golden on top.
Serving
Fill them with absolutely anything you fancy! We love ours spread lightly with homemade chilli jam and filled with fried eggs, crispy bacon, and a mix of vegetables.
