Baked Brussels Sprouts with Walnuts
·Clean the Brussels sprouts, remove any unsightly outer leaves, and cut each one in half. Arrange them in a baking dish, lightly greased with butter if you like.
In a saucepan, start the sauce that will go over the sprouts. Sauté the finely chopped shallot in a little butter.
Add the chopped walnuts and toast them lightly for about two minutes.
Pour in the cream, bring to a boil, then remove from the heat. Break the cheese into the cream and stir until melted. Pour this sauce over the prepared sprouts.
Bake for about 15 minutes, depending on whether you like your sprouts firmer or more tender. After that, mix the breadcrumbs with finely grated cheese and sprinkle it over the sprouts. Continue baking until the top is golden and crisp.
