Fried Bread with Sweet Curd Cheese – A Simple, Quick and Cheap Snack or Dinner

  1. Flavour the curd cheese

    Flavour the curd cheese

    Sweeten the curd cheese with honey or sugar, add a touch of vanilla and mix well. Some people even like to add a pinch of cinnamon.

  2. Layer the sandwiches

    Layer the sandwiches

    Get your bread slices ready, pairing them up two by two. Spread a little curd cheese on each slice and press two together to form a sandwich. Keep going until you've used up all the curd cheese and all the bread.

  3. Set up for coating

    Set up for coating

    Crack all the eggs into a bowl or deep plate and whisk with a fork. Tip the breadcrumbs onto a separate plate.

  4. Fry

    Dip each curd cheese sandwich first in the egg, then in the breadcrumbs, coating both sides and the edges. Fry in a generous layer of oil until golden brown on all sides. Transfer to paper towels to drain off any excess oil.

  5. Serve

    Serve

    Dust the fried sandwiches with icing sugar on top. Serve with milk or hot cocoa.
