Fried Bread with Sweet Cheese Filling - A Simple, Quick and Cheap Snack or Dinner
·Flavour the curd cheese
Sweeten the curd cheese with honey or sugar, add vanilla and mix thoroughly. Some people even like to add a pinch of cinnamon.
Layer up the sandwiches
Get your loaf of bread ready and pair up the slices, two by two. Spread a little of the curd cheese mixture on each slice and press two together to form a sandwich. Keep going until you've used up all the cheese and all the bread.
Set up your breading station
Crack all the eggs into a bowl or deep plate and whisk with a fork. Tip the breadcrumbs onto a separate plate.
Fry until golden
Dip each cheese-filled sandwich first in the egg, then in the breadcrumbs, coating both sides and the edges. Fry in a generous layer of hot oil until golden brown on all sides. Drain on paper towel to soak up any excess oil.
Serve
Dust the fried sandwiches with icing sugar on top. Serve with a glass of milk or a cup of cocoa.
